Transiting Cities: Low Carbon Future International Design Competition - Latrobe City

This Design Competition questions: "How designers can promote and encourage new innovative and alternative opportunitites to emerge in order for Latrobe City to transition into a low carbon, prosperous and vibrant future".

This is an ambitious project that will take place on an international stage while maintaining a local focus, "thinking globally and acting locally".

We will call on renowned international designers and academic institutions from a wide range of disciplines including architects, landscape architects, urban designers, planners, engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, economists, artists and students. Each entrant will submit design visions for how Latrobe city: the associated coal mining industry and agglomeration of townships may be transformed and current aspects strengthened for the future.

Each participating team will be given a specific site in Latrobe City, a defined brief, specific submission requirements that they will be required to fulfil.

Prize money and fame will be awarded to the winning projects!

Deadline for Registrations: 30 November 2012

Prizes

  • First Prize: $15,000 AUD Cash Prize
  • Second Prize : $3,500 AUD Cash Prize
  • Student Prize: $2,500 AUD Cash Prize
  • Three Honorable Mentions: Certificates

Winners, honorable mentions and shortlisted finalists will be published in several print magazines and dedicated Transiting Cities publication and exhibited at Latrobe Regional Gallery and Melbourne Design Hub.
